Marginal abatement cost curve (MACC)

A graphical tool used to illustrate the cost and effectiveness of various emissions abatement strategies. The chart shows the cost per unit of emissions reduction (typically expressed in dollars per ton of CO₂ equivalent) on the vertical axis and the potential emissions reduction from each measure on the horizontal axis. Each bar in the curve represents a specific abatement action, like upgrading equipment, improving efficiency, or deploying renewable energy, and its height indicates the cost-effectiveness of that action. Bars may extend above or below the x-axis, indicating, respectively, net cost or net profit from implementing that abatement action.

Let’s work together on your emissions management and technology challenges.
