Our team works on the cutting edge of decarbonizing the world’s energy systems. Launched in September 2020, we are a new and dynamic company with massive potential. We pride ourselves on having a strong culture of respect, fun, continuous learning, and hard work. Working at Highwood is not easy – but it can be incredibly rewarding. Join us as we endeavor to overcome some of the world’s biggest challenges and help mitigate the impacts of climate change. Highwood Emissions Management (Highwood) is an equal opportunity employer working to enable diversity in the workforce. We welcome all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status. We also value diversity of worldview, experience, and perspective.

Your Mission

Reducing GHG emissions from the oil and natural gas industry is one of the single greatest short-term impacts that we can make towards decarbonizing our economy. Incentivizing the production, transportation, and end use of low-carbon energy is critical. Highwood is looking to expand its R&D team and is currently seeking to fill the role of Intermediate Methane Data Analyst. The R&D team serves as the technical and scientific “glue” at Highwood where your role will be to support and realize Highwood’s research and innovation objectives.

Currently, Highwood is focused on building our Emission Intelligence Platform (EIP), which allows customers to understand their emissions in new and valuable ways.

Your role will be to analyze and interpret datasets using existing EIP prototypes, support the development of novel features, and engage with the R&D and broader Highwood team on how we can stay at the cutting edge of methane and data science.  This role is an exciting growth opportunity, where you will:

  • Work with an unprecedented quantity of methane data – Between our software and consulting partners, Highwood works with many vendors and operators active in this space. This gives our team exposure to a variety of datasets.
  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment – The R&D team works collaboratively with the product, development, and senior leadership teams.
  • Engage in exciting consulting projects – R&D provides technical and scientific support for all of Highwood, which includes the consulting team on an as-needed basis.
  • Leverage your data science and engineering skills to set the standard for methane emissions reporting in oil and gas – The expectations for how methane emissions are reported is changing rapidly, and Highwood is in a unique position to set the bar.

We are looking for someone with experience working with messy and unstructured data. The ideal candidate will have a keen attention to detail and will recognize how the technical nuances of the various methane measurement technologies manifest in the datasets. Given the rapidly evolving nature of the methane space, the ideal candidate will be naturally curious, adaptable, and eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.

Expectations:

  • Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in methane measurement data.
  • Develop and maintain data processing pathways from a variety of methane measurement technologies to ingest, process, and transform into a consistent format for Highwood software products.
  • Collaborate with Highwood development team to store and organize data efficiently for analytics purposes.
  • Apply statistical techniques to analyze complex datasets and extract meaningful insights.
  • Develop data visualization dashboards and reports to communicate key findings and insights.
  • Effectively document data engineering and analytics solutions in a clear and concise manner to the rest of the team
